Polyient Games Using Chainlink VRF on Mainnet to Generate Limited Edition NFT Reward For PGFK Holders
Last June, we announced that we are working with Chainlink, the market leader in providing decentralized oracle networks to smart contract applications, to bring new innovations to the non-fungible token (NFT) asset class.
Today, we are excited to unveil the first Chainlink VRF integration into the Polyient Games Ecosystem is live: a limited edition NFT reward for PGFK holders called the PolyAnt Queen.
The PolyAnt Queen is based on original artwork created by Diego Rodriguez, the popular independent crypto artist and co-founder of Polyient portfolio company Blockade Games.
Polyient Games, a subsidiary of investment group Polyient, is a unique investment ecosystem focused on the NFT and decentralized finance (DeFi) markets. The Polyient Games Ecosystem features a number of industry-leading partners and an NFT-driven token economy.
Polyient Games recently completed a $5M PGFK sale and launched V1 of the Polyient Games DEX (PG DEX), a decentralized swap protocol for NFT-adjacent fungible tokens that currently features a market for the Polyient Games Governance Token (PGT).
Chainlink is a decentralized oracle network that allows smart contracts to connect with data and systems existing outside the blockchain in a highly secure and reliable manner. It has been at the forefront of smart contract innovation for years and was recently recognized by The World Economic Forum (WEF) as one of the top 100 “early to growth-stage”’ Technology Pioneers for 2020.
Chainlink VRF-Fueled PGFK Reward
For this initial integration, we are leveraging Chainlink VRF to reward our users who are stacking PGFKs in wallets connected to the Polyient Games Dashboard with five rarities of PolyAnt Queens available. The rarities are as follows:
- Mythic (Highest rarity)
- Alpha (1/1 only for original artist)
Similar to the Wendex badge released last month, each rarity of the PolyAnt Queen has been assigned an undisclosed % yield boost that will amplify reward outputs for PGFKs, Polyient Games-supported fungible tokens, and PG DEX LP tokens (PGLPs) when they are staked inside the upcoming Polyient Games Vaults. Full details on Vaults and yield boosting will be unveiled later this year.
All eligible PGFK holders, based on the snapshot that was taken on 10/24/20 at Ethereum Block #11116194, will receive a PolyAnt Queen, where the rarity of the collectible is randomly determined using Chainlink VRF. The odds that a user will receive a rare PolyAnt Queen is a function of the number of PGFKs they are stacking in their wallet.
This methodology allows us to incentivize users to participate in the Polyient Games Ecosystem while keeping an element of gamification and chance via Chainlink VRF. Notably, Polyient Games NFTs that are generated using Chainlnk VRF will forever carry a Chainlink logo identifier in the top right of the collectible to highlight the novelty of their creation.
We selected Chainlink VRF as our source of Random Number Generation (RNG) because it provides our users with on-chain verifiable proof that all NFTs are randomly distributed in a fair and unbiased manner, which neither our development team nor any external entities can influence. This enables unforeseen levels of transparency and fairness to our NFT reward systems.
Using Chainlink VRF For Distribution
Here is the process used for RNG and fair distribution:
- We associate all PGFK holders with numbers that correlate to their “entries”
- For every 1 PGFK, a PGFK Member receives 1 numbered entry
- We then randomly obtain a number from Chainlink VRF that we use as the seed for our RNG
- We then generated a number between 1–14,939 from the RNG using our seed from VRF
- That number correlates to an address using the numbered entries for PGFK holders. This address is then a winner!
- That address and all subsequent entries are removed for the next round.
- New numbered entries are then given out to all remaining addresses.
- Repeat until all NFTs are won!
We are excited to explore additional, robust Chainlink integrations that will both expand the reward outcomes for PGFK holders and further build out the bridge between NFTs and DeFi.
Included in this roadmap is the addition of Chainlink VRF into the upcoming Polyient Games Vaults. Additionally, as we expand the number of DeFi protocols within the Polyient Games Ecosystem, we will be leveraging price and data oracles from Chainlink to assure a high-quality user experience and a fairly priced marketplace for NFTs and our supported fungible tokens.
Chainlink is the most widely used and secure way to power universal smart contracts. With Chainlink, developers can connect any blockchain with high-quality data sources from other blockchains as well as real-world data. Managed by a global, decentralized community of hundreds of thousands of people, Chainlink is introducing a fairer model for contracts. Its network currently secures billions of dollars in value for smart contracts across the decentralized finance (DeFi), insurance and gaming ecosystems, among others.
