The Polyup team had the pleasure of attending the CMC-North conference in Pacific Grove on Dec 1–2, with over 1500 math teachers in attendance. The weekend kicked off with Stanford Prof. Jo Boaler’s keynote about the importance of a growth mindset and the inherently visual nature of math. More than 1000 math teachers packed in the PGMS auditorium for Jo’s keynote. During this talk, Jo mentioned Polyup and the ways that teachers can use the application as a tool during their math lessons! Here’s a video of the mention:

Thanks to the great collaboration of CMC-North dedicated program committee, Polyup was also granted six Computational Thinking Workshop slots during the conference. Each workshop was between 30–90 minutes, and all followed a similar structure:

  • Importance Computational Thinking Skills for 3rd to 12th grades
  • Polyup Machines & Classroom Tools
  • Engaging Polyup with Teachers (Playing!)
  • Teacher Forum

The teacher forum held at the end of each Computational Thinking Workshop had teachers elaborate on their first impressions of Polyup and the impact they believed it would make in their classrooms. Check out teachers sharing their experience with Polyup here:

Here are some of the tweets that teachers and Poly-Enthusiasts shared with their peers during CMC-North and afterwards:
