Polyup at CA STEAM Symposium ‘18

The CA STEAM Symposium was held in Long Beach, Ca from October 28th-29th. The STEAM Symposium is the largest gathering of STEAM educators in California with over 3,000 attendees. This two-day conference gives educators the chance to experience hands-on activities and resources to help bring high quality STEAM education to students.

Polyup had the chance to join this two day event and introduce the Polyup platform to leading STEAM educators. Polyup was able to demonstrate and impact of computational thinking and how Polyup can be a helping hand in the process. Attendees went through short demonstrations of the platform and see the complexity of Polyup. They were also shown the future abilities of Polyup, which are to be released in early 2019.

Polyup Co-Founder, Shaya Zarkesh, also gave a talk on day two of the STEAM Symposium titled Computational Thinking as a Conduit for 21st Century STEM Education. This talk was based on a paper written by Shaya Zarkesh and Sepi Hejazi Moghadam which explains how computational thinking an essential skill for the 21st century, but it often goes untouched in STEM classrooms. As a solution they, present a platform that can hone computational thinking skills while engaging students in a visual programming environment known as Polyup. This talk was followed by a very in-depth conversation with the audience, thank you to all those who joined and shared their input!
