Polyup had the opportunity to attend The California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA) annual meeting in Lake Tahoe, California from July 8th to July 11th. In attendance were about 300 diverse educational leaders ranging, primarily superintendents and administrators, who all have one mission — “addressing the needs of Latino/a students and increasing the number of highly effective Latino/a administrators.”

On Monday, Polyup Co-Founder Shaya Zarkesh was invited by CALSA to give a short introduction about himself and the Polyup movement to all attendees, right after the keynote speech! Watch what Shaya had to say below:

Polyup was also one out of six lucky companies who were invited to join iSchool Initiative in their the Escape the Conference experience! For Escape the Conference, CALSA attendees were given a scenario that they were required to follow in order to solve various challenges in teams and “escape” the conference. The challenges incorporated each of the six companies’ products, with each station harboring a ten to fifteen minute challenge. After their time ran out, each group would give a a pitch to EIA on how they could implement each product as the solution to their problems. The winner of the experience would be given the opportunity to bring iSchool Initiative’s Escape the Bus to their schools for a day, for free!

Poly Pro, Angela Tseng, joined us for CALSA

Escape the Conference participants learned about how Polyup could be implemented into their schools and how they could use to to help in their math departments. In order to pass the Polyup booth, participants were to read the prompt and go through Three Poly Machines by scanning the QR codes associated each puzzle’s output! Participants had so much fun playing with Poly and many were interested in implementing Polyup for this coming school year.

Other than Escape the Conference, Polyup had the chance to network and speak with a number of key California education leaders throughout the three days of the conference. From discussions about data privacy to brainstorms about teacher tools, many of these talks proved key to molding the direction of Polyup’s product to better appeal to the district level.

CALSA was a blast this year, and we hope to be back next year!
