Blake Red Unleashes New EP ‘Out of the Cage’
Blake Red’s first new EP in four years hits the bull’s eye.
Singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Blake Red releases her brand-new EP, Out of the Cage, a tribute to her late father, who encouraged her artistic endeavors.
Red says, “‘Out of the Cage’ is my first EP in four years, and it marks my return after some time away. I’m very proud of this record, and I really hope it connects with people. It’s dedicated to the memory of my incredible dad, who inspired me to be a musician.”
Produced by Blake Red, Out of the Cage was mixed and mastered by Grammy-winner Darryl Swann (Macy Gray, Black Eyed Peas), and features Red on guitar, bass, and vocals, along with Macklin Suhre and Tom McGeoch on drums, and bassist/drummer Daniel Fansworth on certain cuts.
The EP release show will be on October 3, at the Epiphany Center for the Arts in Chicago.
Encompassing five tracks, highlights on the EP include the title track, with its fierce harmonics and rolling rhythm. Like a wall-of-sound tinted with melodic vocals, the tune presses listeners back in their seats as Red’s sorceress-like voice gives the lyrics mysterious flavors.
