[POPstory15] People before technology, and not the other way around.

Listing on GDAC, a domestic cryptocurrency exchange, on Sep 13

Business agreement with Actwo Technologies on Sep 17

Listing on Biztranex, a Vietnamese cryptocurrency exchange on Sep 19

These are some accomplishments that POPCHAIN Foundation has achieved since September after five consecutive overseas meetups from May to August 2018, including the ones in Taiwan, Japan, China, Thailand, and Vietnam. Even the blockchain communities, which once questioned the technology and reliability of POPCHAIN, are now positive followed by our progress and are suggesting multi-faceted partnerships. As we are very cautious on the domestic approach, it may take some time to disclose our accomplishments to the public.

Additional recruitment in need

On the technological side as well as domestic and overseas business performance, POPCHAIN is in the process of launching the mainnet and POPBOX equipped with the blockchain technology, as described on the official medium channel. While the project launch came to happen in the near future, additional recruitment was in need. For better communication with investors and the blockchain communities, we would like to disclose information of additional members of POPCHAIN in a transparent manner to the market and get a fair evaluation (existing members can be found through the official website of POPCHAIN and the medium link below).

POPCHAIN Executive Director

First of all, Jaeho Yang joined us as an executive director of POPCHAIN. Yang graduated Yonsei University, majoring in business administration. He built his career in IPO, investments in venture and PI, working over 10 years in finance/VC company. As an investment and finance industry expert, Yang will direct overall management including finance of POPCHAIN. Additional member in charge of our blockchain technology development also joined the team with Yang.

“I chose to change rather than to settle at this time of massive shift of paradigm,” says Yang. “I will contribute my 15 years of experience in finance industry to achieve ‘POPCHAIN cultural revolution,’” adds Yang.

Red&Yella, Korea’s one and only hip-hop MCN platform

We have already mentioned Red&Yella in the business roadmap as one of our major DApps after the launch of our mainnet. Red&Yella is a concert launching brand of THE E&M, POPCHAIN’s strategic partner. While it launched on April 2017 to have reached over 100K followers, Red&Yella is also the one and only hip-hop MCN platform in Korea to create various hip-hop contents.

‘The Synergy’ concert by Red&Yella in June sold out both days. With the huge success of this experimental performance, Red&Yella increased the number of concerts in the second half of this year. We plan to grow this platform as in the size of SoundCloud, focusing on black music. (More information of Red&Yella is provided in the medium article below.)

Hip-hop and Business

Along with business expansion, Red&Yella needed a field expert familiar with hip-hop and business. The newly joined Kiyeon Lee is a field specialist who has been in charge of content business for 8 years including CheilWorldWide, CJ E&M, and four years of working experience in a fashion brand company. During his time at Hongik University, he was the chairman of the Brainswords, a black music club, where he rapped with ‘Grey’ and ‘Loco’, who have become top-tier hip-hop artists.

“The current hip-hop scene has a lot of cases in which a talented new artist give up his dreams too early due to poor conditions,” says Lee. “I will expand Red&Yella to provide grounds where creators can be respected and given equal opportunities.“

Videos that can steal your heart

It has been long since video/image went beyond the text. To follow the vision to become a trending hip-hop MCN, Red&Yella also recruited Director Heewan Koo. He is a filming and video editing specialist, having his experience as a fashion film general manager in the leading fashion magazine <VOGUE>, public relations film director in <Hyundai Home Shopping>, and general manager of video images at <Naver On Stage>.

“My goal is to film and image that can steal the hearts of hip-hop fans,” says Koo. “I think there are many points that hip-hop and blockchain have in common in that they both value equal opportunities and freedom of individual’s speech,” he added.

POPCHAIN’s talent management

“It is clear that blockchain is the technology that will change the world, but eventually it is the people who create and operate the ecosystem. There are people before technology, but not the other way around,” said Director Son expressing his philosophy of his talent management in a press interview. POPCHAIN Foundation will continue to recruit new talents in the future according to the keynote and will deliver through our official channels.
