Announcing the latest release of PopLocker.
This release is a fully featured and functioning Ethereum DApp browser and wallet — and an alternative to Metamask. Release notes and installation instructions are here.
This latest beta release has the below limitations:
- Connects to an Infura mainnet node — currently using a local node or test network requires rebuilding from source.
- No backup or recovery of keys (but possible with Universal Logins — coming soon!) therefore if PopLocker is uninstalled (or your device is lost) you will lose access to your funds.
- Not yet audited — deposit small funds only.
- EIP-1102 not yet implemented — disable PopLocker when you want privacy.
All of these limitations will be addressed in future releases. However we would greatly appreciate beta testers installing and using this PopLocker release and giving us feedback. How close is PopLocker to achieving its aim of being an intuitive and mainstream-friendly DApp browser?
More information on the project roadmap and vision can be found here.
Phase 2 — Universal Logins and Meta Transactions
The real lift-off for PopLocker comes in the next phase — when we introduce SmartLockers so users can access their network identity from any of their devices and never have to manage or export keys or seed phrases.
We are pleased to report that we are now in the later stages of Phase 2— we have a fully working demonstration and are well on the way to meeting the timescales of a May/June release.
More to come on this… but for now a sneaky preview:
Connect with us
Here at PopLocker we are extremely grateful to the Ethereum Foundation for providing us with a grant to start this project and help realise our vision. We are a small team, with no ICO and no token and currently the grant is our only funding — however if you would like to donate our ETH address is: 0xc8a0471503Cb0041D81C9D2C555c3396e889DC3b. We are also open source and welcome code contributions.
