Ditch the standard resolutions you typically make and forget by February (you’ve got the rest of your life to get in shape, right?). Instead, resolve to kick your brand’s Instagram game into hyper-drive!

Instagram has over 500 million active users. These users click the little Instagram heart 4.2 BILLION times a day. That’s A TON of people and A TON of love your brand can find on Instagram.

There are thousands of brands using Instagram to meet their marketing needs. YOU could be one of these brands with a few tweaks to your social media strategy. We’ve got 5 killer examples of brands making it WORK on Instagram. Now make your new year’s resolutions and keep them!

New Year, new social media presence!

Whet their appetite with mind-blowing photos

Swizzler Food Truck is a purveyor of gourmet hot dogs, and their Instagram feed is delicious. Seriously, hot dogs have never looked so good. Scroll through their feed and see how every single post sends an appetizing message. If they can make HUNDREDS of hot dogs look amazing, you can do the same for your brand.

Don’t post any sub par pix to your Instagram account. You don’t need a fancy camera to take a great shot — just make sure the lighting is perfect and use a photo editor if needed. Need some tips on taking great Instagram shots? Check out this QZ.com article.

Send a Clear Message

Huckberry is a marketplace for expertly curated gear (both indoor and out). Their Instagram feed is a mix of awe inspiring nature shots and straightforward marketing pix, like the one above.

Put your brand on full display via Instagram. Do you make sweaters for dogs? Include a clear, high quality image of these sweaters to share. Huckberry does an excellent job making photos of merchandise the total opposite of boring.

Capitalize on their FOMO

FOMO — Fear of Missing Out — happens now more than ever thanks to social media. Take advantage of this!

Union Market in Washington, DC promoted a West Elm pop-up in their space by posting this great pic (above). Stylish woman having fun in a great looking space — sure to inspire FOMO and get Instagram users off their butts and to your event.

Ask Them a Question

Engage your audience by striking up a conversation.

The Outbound Collective hopes to inspire adventure with its followers. To accomplish this, its Instagram feed is jam-packed with breathtaking photos of gorgeous nature scenes. But they don’t stop there! The Outbound engages its audience by asking thoughtful questions, like the one above — “What is it that you plan to do with your own wild and precious life?”

The questions you ask your Instagram audience don’t need to be this deep, but even a simple “what are you up to this weekend?” can be enough to hook followers.

Inspire Them!

Don’t just be a pretty face on Instagram! Inspire your audience to get up and act! Lululemon, the ultra chic active wear company, does this every day on its Instagram feed. Lululemon inspires it’s audience by posting action yoga shots and soul-souring inspirational quotes.

Take a photo of your product in action and include an inspirational caption, or be on the look out for inspirational graffiti (like the one above). If all else fails, find a gorgeous stock image (that you can legally use) and slap an inspirational quote on it.
