Popular Coding has received a Web3 Foundation Grant for its efforts in developing work engagement and professional certification functionality for Ventur, a business process parachain, and for the greater Substrate ecosystem.

In accordance with the grant, the team will provide the following deliverables:

  • Substrate module “escrow”: a Substrate module that will implement an escrow functionality allowing request for proposal (RFP) submitters to lock funds for RFP’s and enable crowdfunding.
  • Substrate module “contracted-payment-process”: a Substrate module that will implement a contracted payment process, releasing funds over the duration of a contract with defined functionality for resignation and termination.
  • Substrate module “rfp-process”: a Substrate module that will implement an RFP bidding and acceptance process.
  • Substrate module “nt-nft”: a Substrate module that implements non-transferable NFTs. Non-transferable NFTs can be used for professional certifications, proof of membership to an advocacy-DAO, or subscriptions.
  • Substrate chain “Ventur”: Ventur is a Polkadot parachain that integrates the previously listed modules to deliver a network that focuses on enabling businesses and professionals in the Polkadot/Kusama ecosystem.

We are excited to announce the acceptance of our first milestone!

Our first milestone delivered our escrow and contracted-payment pallets.

Visit our GitHub repository for instructions on how to build and run a Ventur node and how to test out the functionality of our pallets.

About Ventur

Ventur provides solutions for a decentralized RFP process. It will connect businesses and professionals within a services marketplace. Ventur will be able to provide tools for different types of work, ranging from bounties to work engagements, and enable technical certifications, professional accreditation, memberships, subscription services, and professional networking.

Ventur is built using the Substrate framework and will be integrated with the Polkadot network. We believe that Polkadot’s interoperability offers an opportunity for Ventur to enable work engagement and professional certification across the Polkadot ecosystem.

About Web3 Foundation and Polkadot

Web3 Foundation funds research and development teams building the technology stack of the decentralized web. It was established in Zug, Switzerland by Ethereum co-founder and former CTO Gavin Wood. Polkadot is the Foundation’s flagship project.

Polkadot is a scalable sharded chain and the first protocol that provides a secure environment for cross-chain composability across multiple shards. Polkadot also introduces a highly advanced, open governance system that will allow the network to innovate and grow at a much faster pace than legacy networks. Applications from DeFi to energy to gaming will thrive on Polkadot, challenging the centralized platforms of Web 2.0.
