1. Believe

John 14:1: “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.”

Knowing you are a child of God will help you establish your purpose and help you fill your life with the things God wants you to.

2. Trust

Proverbs 3:5–6 tells us to “trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

God has a plan for you and knows of your existence. He wants you to be happy and successful. Trust that He has a plan for you and that both easy and hard things are a part of that.

Mark 10:27 “And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”

3. Pray

Philippians 4:6–7: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Prayer can ease your mind and give you direction and focus, easing your stress.

4. Obey God’s Commandments

Disobedience to God’s commandments can lead to stress and unhappiness. By obeying God’s commandments, you will be blessed. Obedience to God’s commandments does not equal a stress-free existence, but it sure helps.

5. Read the Scriptures

2 Peter 1:3 “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.”

We can find direction, inspiration, and peace as we read the words of God in the scriptures.

6. Be Grateful

Praise and worship will take our minds and thoughts off of our problems and refocus them on God.

Colossians 3:15 “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.”

7. Cultivate Relationships through Service

Jesus gave time to His Father, individuals and to developing relationships with people. As you serve others and create relationships with those around you, you gain perspective regarding your own issues, develop a stronger relationship with God and Jesus Christ, and learn to love others as They love you.

2 Corinthians 1:3–4 “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”

8. Be Patient

James 1:2–4 “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”

God will not abandon you. Stress and trials are a part of life, but if you are patient and trust in God, you will recognize His love and blessings.
