Our journey began as a passionate quest by the Portal team. Their unwavering determination led to the birth of a transformative technology that could simplify and secure cross-chain transactions. After numerous brainstorming sessions, fuelled by countless cups of coffee and sketches on whiteboards, the concept of Atomic Swaps materialized.
In 2018, the founders of Portal took the proverbial leap of faith, delving into the complex process of creating a technology that could natively exchange NFTs, tokens, and other digital assets across different chains, thereby overcoming blockchain limitations. This was an uncharted path, but their vision propelled them forward, bringing the dream of Atomic Swaps to life.
Fast forward to a few months ago when we reached the pivotal milestone of successfully completing the 1st in the world Cross-chain Atomic Swap on L2 Bitcoin & L2 Ethereum.
This accomplishment forever marked Portal’s history and validated our founders’ vision: Innovation can facilitate a transparent, decentralized, interchain liquidity solution.
Driven by the success of this demo, our team dedicated the following months to refining our technology, introducing numerous improvements for a more seamless and secure experience.
