[Tutorial] Purchasing Ethereum (ETH) at Coinbase

Beginning with Bitcoin, cryptocurrency has unquestionably become one of the most popular investments that catches all attention. Purchasing cryptocurrency is actually similar to purchasing stocks with traditional payment methods. And this tutorial will demonstrate a step by step guide for purchasing Ethereum (ETH) on coinbase, a digital assets exchange based in the US.

In USA, Coinbase is a popular and widely trusted exchange that supports the purchasing of cryptocurrency with fiat currency. Supported cryptocurrencies include Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH). It is available in 33 countries at present, but not all of them are allowed to buy and sell. This is a step by step tutorial from account registration to purchasing ETH. If you already have an account, go ahead and begin with STEP 15.

STEP 1. Account registration: Sign-up via https://www.coinbase.com/

Fill in your personal details, agree with the terms and click “Create Account”.

STEP 2. Account verification with registered email

You will be directed to a confirmation page upon submisson.

STEP 3. Account activation

A verification link is sent via email and click “Verify Email Address”.

STEP 4. Account setting

Begin by selecting your account type.

STEP 5. Phone number verification

Enter your local phone number and press “Submit”.

STEP 6. Select payment method

Connect your bank account, debit card, or credit card. Personal identification is required before any payment method can be selected.

STEP 7: Identity verification

Verify identity with passport, driver’s license or photo ID.

STEP 8: Select the preferred method of uploading identification documents

Upload identification document through either webcam or mobile camera.

STEP 9: Upload your identification documents

Once your documents are uploaded, you will be directed to the following upload page.

STEP 10: Identity approved

Wait for your uploaded documents to be approved.

STEP 11: Preferred payment details

You can now type in the details of your preferred payment method.

STEP 12: Chrages verification

Two charges will be made to the bank account under “Pending Transactions”. You are required to determine the last two digits of these charges.

STEP 13: Verify your bank statement

These charges can be found from online bank statement.

STEP 14: Charges verification

Enter the last 2 digits of each charge, and click “Verify Charge Numbers”.

STEP 15: Start buying and selling crypto currency

Now you are all set!

STEP 16: Sign in to Coinbase

A verification code is required for all subsequent Sign-ins. It will be sent to your mobile.

STEP 17: Start buying your choice of cryptocurrency

Click “Buy/Sell”.

STEP 18: Select Ethereum and enter the desired amount to purchase

The right column reflects the quantity of ETH you can get for the stated amount of local currency. A transaction summary included surcharge, is also reflected at the bottom. (Note: A flat fee of $0.99 will be charged per transaction)

STEP 19: Verify your purchase

Confirm payment method and click “Confirm Buy”.

STEP 20. Transaction confirmation

Once the transaction are completed, you will be redirected back to the dashboard. Your new balance should be reflected under “Your Portfolio”.
