[Wanchain] Week 2 WNS Update
Since the deployment of WNS on Wanchain mainnet, there has been many progress on its development. Today, we will talk about the updates on our Wanchain mobile wallet development.
What is Wanchain Name Service (WNS)
WNS is one of the blockchain name services. You can think of it as centralized domain name service such as .com, .org or Ethereum Name Service (ENS). To simply put it, WNS could be used to replace the 20 bytes long Wanchain addresses. For instance, you will be able to use “yourname.wan” instead of something like “0xF922A9BadC…”, which not only gives identity to each users, but also eliminates the gap that users are experiencing on blockchain at the moment.
In our Wanchain mobile wallet, we will include the WNS as one of our key features.
Updates : Wanchain iOS Wallet
This is not the first Wanchain iOS wallet in the market, but probably the first with the WNS feature. With the WNS feature, instead of typing a long bytes of hash to transfer the assets, users can simply use a human-readable name such as “yourname.wan”.
There has been constant progress on this feature and we are here to reveal 2 new functions.
First function: Read WNS (Wanchain explorer)
- Read Deed contract
- Get domain entries
- Get auction UTC time
Users can now search for any WNS on their mobiles. With the Read function, the system will instantly show the availability of the targeted WNS. If the domain name is already owned by somebody, it will show the contract for deed, domain entries and the auction UTC time.
Second function: Bid
- Open new bid
- SealBid
If the domain name is not owned by anyone, users will be able to open a new bid with minimum 0.1 WAN. The auction will closed in 5 days, and the bidders are required to reveal the bid after 3 days in order to be entitled for retaining a specific ownership.
Opening Testflight signup for Wanchain iOS Wallet
We are excited that our Wanchain iOS testflight wallet will be released soon. Users can try out the WNS feature on the go and return us any feedback or comments. We will soon open up for people to sign up (it will be limited to a certain number of participants), so stay tuned by following Portal Network’s social media channels.
