This weekend, for the first time in the 150 year history of Major League Baseball, competitive games are being played on the European continent. London Stadium will play host to the weekend series which will see the sport’s fiercest rivals—the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox—square off for a two-game derby.

Whether you’re a baseball fanatic sporting a cap branded with a white, interlocking “NY” or a red “B” crashing the English capital, or a dyed-in-the-wool Londoner who calls the game ‘rounders’, you’re going to want to know the top spots in town:

A Taste of Home at Broadway Market

True to their stereotype of never sleeping, Yankees fans are more likely to be grabbing a coffee at a cafe, or a casual bite at the familiar-sounding Broadway Market. The smoker at Hanson and Lyderson provides arguably the best opportunity to try a variation on the NY diner staple bagel all the way.

Regional Differences

The rustic exteriors found at The Shed in Kensington

Should you want an encounter with a baseball fan, maybe head to the boroughs surrounding the western end of Hyde Park, where concentrations of Red Sox fans have been spotted about. Bayswater’s vegan staple Café Forty One and The Shed in Kensington are likely appealing to the New England set.

Yankees fans are more evenly dispersed across the city than their rivals, but your best bet to see them in the wild may be in the vicinity of Marylebone and Mayfair. Cultured Yankees fans appear more inclined towards London’s gallery scene, so maybe camp out near The Wallace Collection to really up your chances.

A Congenial Pint

Yea! 4AM pints at Polo Bar!

Lastly there’s bound to be some tippling before, during and after the games. If past is prologue, the two groups will stick to their own corners when it comes time to enjoy a drink. Sox supporters have sought the views from City Social, while again, true to nature, Yankees fans are moths to the flame at Polo Bar. A 24 hour bar with breakfast at midnight will feel right at home among this set.
