There are my reasons why one might go veg, be it for religious, health or environmental reasons. Either way, we can all agree having more veggies in your diet can’t be a bad thing.

Now, this isn’t going to be a list of reasons why you should be a vegetarian. This World Vegetarian Day, we share with you a list of supper joints that serve yummy food that’s sure to tickle the tastebuds of both vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.

630 Vegetarian Stall

Love your local noodle dishes? Just because you’re going meatless doesn’t mean that you’ll have to miss them! Everything in this store is the vegetarian version of your favourite local noodles. From Wanton Mee ($3.70) to Ban Mian ($3.70), Sliced Fish Soup ($4.20) to Kway Chap ($3.70). We won’t say they taste exactly like the original, but we guarantee you’ll be surprised at the creativity of their dishes.

Fetch it: Ban Mian ($3.70), Sliced Fish Soup ($4.20), Mushroom Handmade Noodles ($3.70), Laksa ($3.70), Dumpling Noodles ($3.70)

Copper Chimney

Love Chinese AND Indian food? Copper Chimney has the best of both worlds. We’re no strangers to fusion food, but vegetarian fusion? That’s a first for us. Have you tried an Indian take on Chinese dumplings (Steamed Veg Momos ($9))? How bout Chili Gobi ($9) or Hong Kong-Style Vegetable Gravy ($10) prepared by an Indian chef? This is cross cultural pollination like you’ve never seen before.

Fetch it: Paneer Tikka ($12), Salt & Pepper Babycorn ($10), Vegetable Spring Rolls ($9), Chili Paneer ($12), Dum Aloo Kashmiri ($10), Palak Paneer ($12), Singapore Noodles ($11)

British Indian Curry Hut

Having a party and have no idea what to cater for the vegetarians? Get their Veg Tandoori Platter ($34), which includes Malai Mushroom Tikka, Methi Broccoli Kebab, and Hydrabadi Paneer Tikka, all in one plate. We’re already salivating. Order 2 platters; one for your guests to fight over, and one for yourself to dig into.

Fetch it: Punjabi Samosa ($4.50), Malai Mushroom Tikka ($16), Vegetable Sheekh Kebab ($14), Hydrabadi Paneer Tikka ($17)

25 Degrees Burger Wine Liquor Bar

Going meat-light shouldn’t mean that you’ll have to give up your comfort foods, nor should fast food necessarily be unhealthy. Go ahead, order a Chopped Vegetable Salad ($8) if you’re feeling healthy. But if you had a rough day and want something comforting, order the Veggie Burger ($14) and make it your own. With a plethora of options for you to customise your burger, it’s your personal ultimate comfort food, with a little less guilt.

Fetch it: Chopped Vegetable Salad ($8), Roasted Beets Salad ($8), Heirloom Tomato Salad ($8), Veggie Burger ($14)

Hannibal

Whether you’re back from a long day of work, or just coming back from a night of partying, nothing hits the spot like a piping hot pizza. Sure, many places, like Hannibal, serve up a mean Vegetarian pizza ($19), but don’t forget, many of the classics are meat-free. The Margherita pizza ($17), with its tomato sauce, basil leaves, and stretchy mozzarella cheese, is already perfect. Now who needs meat with that?

Fetch it: Gnocchi Alla Sorentina ($17), Gnocchi Al Gorgonzola ($19), Margherita Pizza ($17), Vegetarian Pizza ($19), Kamasutra Pizza ($20)

Happy World Vegetarian Day!
