Portis now compatible with RSK
Using Bitcoins in smart contracts has been sought after since the time of the Colored Coins whitepaper (which eventually evolved into Ethereum). This dream became a reality thanks to the EVM compatible RootStock blockchain. We made sure Portis users and DApp developers can take advantage of this great platform by adding support for the RootStock network.
RootStock (RSK) is the first open-source smart contract platform — fully compatible with Ethereum — with a 2-way peg to Bitcoin that also rewards the Bitcoin miners via merge-mining, allowing them to actively participate in the smart contract revolution. RootStock’s goal is to add value and functionality to the Bitcoin ecosystem by enabling smart-contracts, creating nearly instant payments and providing the ability for higher-scalability.
As a developer, using the RootStock network with Portis is as simple as setting the network value to orchid (or orchidTestnet).
