Portkey Fully Upgraded to Unveil a New Chapter, Hop on and Embrace an Enhanced Asset Management Experience in Web3

Portkey is thrilled to unveil the launch of a fully upgraded Portkey, a standalone App/extension that is available for iOS, Android, and desktop devices. This release marks a new era for Portkey. Moving forward, the previous Portkey App/extension will no longer receive updates, and all future enhancements will exclusively be implemented on this upgraded Portkey App/extension.
Rest assured, your accounts and assets on the previous Portkey App/extension remain secure. You can continue to log in, manage assets, and chat with your friends. That said, we would like to warmly invite you to experience the enhanced features of the new Portkey, including identical addresses on the MainChain and SideChain and a host of exhilarating features such as the addition of Telegram as a guardian type and the newly introduced referral programme.

Importantly, the installation of the upgraded Portkey App/extension won’t impact the functionality of your previous version. To distinguish between them, the two versions use different logos, and the upgraded Portkey is named “Portkey”/”Portkey Wallet”, while the previous one is tagged with “Deprecated”.
Having a New Portkey Account with Identical Addresses Across Chains
Once you’re ready to embark on a fresh journey with the brand-new Portkey, you can start by creating a new account. Portkey supports four types of Web2 social credentials for seamless registration, including emails, Google accounts, Apple IDs, and Telegram. The newly introduced Telegram account is now a guardian type for Portkey users, meaning you can sign up directly using Telegram credentials and designate other Telegram accounts as guardians.
After entering your account details, a decentralised verifier is randomly assigned for added protection. Complete the verification, set a PIN, or enable biometric authentication to have your account created on the aelf blockchain. The process is as straightforward as you’re accustomed to in the previous Portkey.
It’s worth mentioning that you have the option to use the same credentials as your previous Portkey account for this new account creation, and the two accounts operate independently. The existing account remains exclusive to the previous Portkey App/extension, while the new account is accessible solely through the upgraded Portkey.
Upon completing the account creation in the new Portkey, you’ll appreciate the convenience of identical addresses on the MainChain and SideChain. Enabled by the newly deployed Portkey smart contract, this feature eliminates the need to differentiate MainChain and SideChain addresses and reduces the risk of sending assets to the wrong address.
If you find the above appealing, we recommend a full transition to the upgraded Portkey as the previous Portkey won’t be updated anymore. Following this step-by-step tutorial, you can transfer your tokens and NFTs from the existing account to the new one.
Inviting Friends to Join Web3 via the Portkey Referral Programme
Believing in the power of word of mouth, Portkey has introduced a referral functionality in the latest version. This empowers existing users to invite their family and friends to join Portkey. By sharing referral links or codes through diverse channels like social media, users can encourage those interested in cryptocurrency to explore Web3 through Portkey.
Upon the creation of a new account using the existing user’s referral link or code, the relationship between referrer and referee is established and recorded in the smart contract. In the coming days, Portkey will unveil a comprehensive referral rewards plan, offering bonuses to both parties and incentivising more users to participate in this rewarding initiative.
To access your referral link and code, navigate to the “My” section and select “Referral” to view the referral code. Take a screenshot of the code and share it with others, allowing them to scan the code via their mobile devices. Alternatively, you can click on “Invite Friends” to find the referral link, which can be easily shared across various platforms using the “Share” button.
Besides the above features, the establishment of Portkey Official Group in the Chats section is also a noteworthy addition. Portkey aims to seamlessly integrate the official community into the wallet, allowing users to effortlessly stay informed about the latest updates, seek assistance, and engage with the official team and fellow users — all within the App/extension. To join the group, you can quickly scan the QR code.
With the addition of Telegram as a guardian type, Portkey has substantially broadened the potential user base, rendering Web3 services accessible to a more extensive audience.
