Portkey is thrilled to unveil an exciting new feature in the Portkey App — the “crypto box.” Unlike traditional direct transfers, the crypto box introduces a delightful way for users to send cryptocurrencies as gifts, imbued with an essence of surprise and blessings. What makes this feature even more exciting is its versatility. Crypto boxes can be sent directly to individuals or shared within groups. With functions like sending crypto boxes with random amounts, this feature is anticipated to spark a trend of joyful sharing and receiving among all Portkey users.

Sending Crypto Boxes between Individuals
Sending a crypto box to an individual is easy. Open the chat window, click the paper clip icon at the bottom left corner, and select “Crypto Box.” Choose the desired token type and specify the amount. Before hitting the “Send Crypto Box” button, don’t forget to add a personal touch by writing a memo or offering your blessings in the “Wishes” section.
Once sent, your crypto box will be visible in the chat window, awaiting the recipient’s discovery. If unclaimed within 24 hours, the tokens will automatically be returned to you, rendering the crypto box invalid.
Sending Crypto Boxes to Groups
Just like sending a crypto box in an individual chat, the crypto box feature in group chats lets you specify the type and amount of tokens to send, along with attaching a warm wish. However, it gets even more entertaining here, thanks to the customisable quantity and random amount design. Since group crypto boxes are visible to every member in the group and each can only claim the same crypto box once, the quantity you send directly determines if all members can enjoy a share.
Even more interestingly, you can switch tabs at the top and choose between sending crypto boxes with a “Random” or “Fixed” amount of tokens each. Opting for a fixed amount means the tokens you provide will be evenly distributed among the determined quantity, ensuring everyone gets an identical share. On the other hand, if you choose random, it really becomes a game of luck. A box containing 100 ELF to be claimed by two individuals could result in one claiming 99 and the other claiming 1. The element of surprise adds an extra layer of fun to the experience!
