Beth carrying out training to become a registered nurse

Meet Beth, who is currently a second year studying Adult Nursing (BN) at the University of Portsmouth. Her dedication to her degree is admirable, as she balances working at hospitals for placement and her university work.

With the number of student nurses decreasing, with a high drop out rate due to stress, I thought that it was important to gain an understanding of a student nurses routine. Nurses are often not as respected as they should be, especially seeing how hard they work. Beth’s day is extremely busy; from watching surgeries to interacting with patients, all in the space of a 12 hour shift!

After her degree, Beth wants to carry on helping people, no matter where she ends up.

Although there are obviously sad times, seeing and helping those patients who she sees regularly makes her job enjoyable.
