Day in the life of an NHS nurse
During recent years, the number of individuals training to be nurses has continued to fall. This has led to almost 44,000 open nursing vacancies across the NHS. However, I interviewed Wendy, a local nurse who has been in the profession for 10 years. Wendy shares with us why she thinks there may have been a decline in the number of people entering a nursing career, pointing out the difficulties of the job. She also gives us a unique insight of what it is like to be a NHS nurse in the UK, sharing what she gets up to on a daily basis and what the main roles of her job are. Wendy also shares her favourite part of the job, explaining how helping patients can be very rewarding, and generates job satisfaction.
