Since the Schools Strike for Climate Change movement began in 2018, started by internet activist sensation — Greta Thurnburg, climate change has been one of the most spoken about topics in our current affairs and headline news. Paper straws and bamboo lunchboxes have replaced single use plastics and the numbers of people turning vegetarian and vegan have spiked.

On a day to day basis, we all know ways to help reduce our own carbon footprint, but what about on a government level?

Outside of London, Portsmouth is the most densely populated city in the UK. With 4,690 people per square kilometre, how does Portsmouth try and stay green and continue to care about sustainability. With great public transport links, a sustainability programme and a recycling scheme, it is clear that Portsmouth Cares about the planet and will continue to commit to the nationwide promise of net zero greenhouse gases by 2050.
