Oakdale Runners is a community running group that has over 300 members in Poole, Dorset. The group was set up in 2015 by local people who wanted to get out and about and to encourage people who might not have much experience in running to try it out.

Not only was the group a great way to bring a group of different ages, abilities and genders together, but the group has also done some amazing work for charity. Helen, who joined Oakdale Runners in 2017, has raised hundreds of pounds for various different charities through running with the group. She tackled two half-marathons, both of which involved her creating several fundraising events, such as coffee mornings and band nights.

Running these half-marathons was a great way for Helen to push herself to try something she’d never done before, but also for her to get involved in making money for charity and showing how much she cares about her community.
