Portsmouth is home to over 296,000 people. Yet in 2019, 23 homeless people died on these streets.

I joined local charity ‘Don’t Hate. Donate’ during one of their weekly events to feed the rough sleepers within the city.

The charity has established a great reputation since it was established in response to the Calais migrant crisis of 2015. Rough sleepers from all-over the city make the journey to unite in Portsmouth guildhall every weekend.

The team have nurtured a genuine, loving connection with the city’s less fortunate and greet them by name with smiles and warm hugs. The idea of community isn’t a lost idea with Don’t Hate. Donate, in-fact their most recent project has inspired many through-out the city, the community coatrack. This encourages anyone to donate any clothing they have this winter. This is located within the city library.
