Portsmouth hopes for a carbon net 0 future following full council meeting.

On the 19th of March 2019, Portsmouth city council unanimously agreed to the Climate Emergency motion. Since then, their aim is to become carbon neutral.

One of the council members, Suzy Horton, from the central Southsea ward for the Liberal Democrats, attended the full council and offered to comment on where our port city stands in climate change.

Although great steps have been made to go green, such as recycling and , more needs to be done to achieve the council’s goal of achieving net zero carbon by 2030. This meeting set out several amendments on the Action on Carbon reduction. These include a food waste trial, the installation of solar panels and making improvements to the city transport system.

If we make small changes, we can help the city council to achieve our goal: to create a more environmentally sustainable place to live, for our future generations to come.
