Early years and where you came from?

I studied here in Porto, Fine Arts Faculty, but since I finish my degree I am working in the digital design field.

Walk me through your work and what you are doing now in the tech industry.

I am a UX and UI designer, I define the user experience of apps or products, and then add the visual layer to it.

What part of what you do, you love the most?

Working in a team with different members and from different fields, so we can discuss the product with different perspectives. The initial part of a project is what excites me the most.

How do you think that your background and knowledge impact the way you approach your work in the Portuguese tech industry?

Coming from a Fine arts school gave me a different way of locking to the projects. I look for the details, and for the ‘Wow’ moment. This background also makes me really humble, and always trying to find the latest technology or news in the area.

What advice do you have for young women that want to get into tech and don’t know where to start?

Step by step, it’s the best way. The beginning doesn’t have to be awesome, you just need to keep pushing.

Walk me through a day in your life as a Portuguese women in tech.

Well, I work in an open space office, in Porto. I usually have meetings in the morning, because the team of the project is not all in the same building, so we must check and keep up every morning. The afternoon is used to produce mock-ups mostly.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

That I am young, and I have time to accomplish my goals. It doesn’t have to be everything for tomorrow.

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?

Sketch app, InVision app, After effects
