Early years and where you came from?
I graduate in Biomedical Engineer but after a few jobs in Clinical fields I felt that I needed more. Start working as Quality Assurance Engineer in 2015 and now I am leading a team of QAs.

How were you introduced to the world of the Portuguese tech industry?
I was introduced in this amazing world in the exact moment that I missed nurse graduation and started studying engineer. Looking back, was the most perfect mistake of my life.

Walk me through your work and what you are doing now in the tech industry.
I have a team of 5. I have a few meetings with Business to get and understand new requirements, decide test coverage and assign tasks. As Quality Assurance Analyst, I recognize each impact area of the software and for many times I discuss them with Product Owners and Scrum Masters. I work in Agile and our product is only delivered to production when my team and I assurance that all requirements are accomplished.

What part of what you do, you love the most?
I have the privilege of contact with all the involved parts in the software development. As I am an “online” person, my job allows me to be in anywhere and always in contact with all folks (Porto, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami)

How do you think that your background and knowledge impact the way you approach your work in the Portuguese tech industry?
I work with passion. I like to learn more and more. My background and knowledge allows me to be more confident in my work and my work relations because I is what I studied. In my opinion, the best way to be good in what you do, is always know the essence.

What advice do you have for young women that want to get into tech and don’t know where to start?
Always pay attention and be patient. Good and Evil always is kept on your mind no learn what to do (or not).

Walk me through a day in your life as a Portuguese women in tech.
In some previous jobs was hard to be a woman in tech. Honestly, nowadays I don’t feel that I am less or treated like less than my male colleagues. I am proud of be a part of a company that is managed by strong women.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
If you do your job the best you can, no one will have anything against you.

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?
Skype, Slack, Whatsapp, Messenger, Outlook, Jira 😊
