We had a great time this week as a community @posi2ive with the Co-GPs at Chasing Rainbow Ventures. Ben shared his background as a Founder in the social good space, with a recent exit. He also shared his lived experience as an adopted Australian, and finding his place in the LGTBQ+ startup community. Patrick took us through his background in global impact development work, his passion for startups, and being an active board member with the StartOut — where they both originally met.
The discussion largely dives into the life of Emerging Fund Managers on a mission, but also highlights the importance of sharing a passion for a cause together as a Co-GP/Co-Founder. We loved having them share their journey in forming their thesis around meeting Founders at the earliest Friends-and-Family stage of fundraising, and how they aim to improve access to capital, and increase social equity in their fund’s mentorship community.
We had some great Founders visit us on stage asking about complicated topics around Vice Clauses, and highlighting negative impacts of discrimination in fundraising — including unreasonable expectations from LPs/Investors experienced everyday by underestimated teams. We hope you enjoy!
