Here at the Post Growth Institute, we collaboratively develop ideas, programs, events, and alliances that promote the equitable circulation of money, power, and natural resources in our local communities and global economy. Each month we publish an overview of our key activities and impact through the various pillars of our work.

Post-Growth Stories

In April, we launched the third round of the Post Growth Fellowship with 25 fellows from around the world! After two years of deep learnings, we’re thrilled to introduce the next cohort.

We are very excited to see Natalie Holmes’s (the PGI’s Managing Editor), article featured by Nonprofit Quarterly. Covering the research of former Post Growth Fellow, Caroline Shenaz Hossein, the story explores the centuries-old susu practice of Ghanian communities and its contributions to a solidarity economy.

Post Growth Affiliate, Nick Natrella, also published an insightful exploration of sociocracy and how it helps organizations to thrive, based on his experience here at the PGI.

We had the honor of crossing paths with Satish Kumar, life-long activist and peace pilgrim, last year at the Beyond Conference in Brussels. We were able to capture his truly inspiring answer when asked, “What is a post-growth economy?”

Hear Satish’s simple and poignant response across YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Post-Growth Events

Our Director of Personnel, Elisa Favaro, attended the Beyond Growth Conference in Rome, Italy on April 19–20. Reflecting on the experience, Elisa shared:

As an Italian working with the PGI, it felt so good to attend a Beyond Growth Conference. I witnessed some inspiring moments in the Italian parliament, but most exciting to me was the social movement energy emerging from the second day, which connected academics, citizens, and politicians. Knowing that the Beyond Growth movement is expanding and that Italy opened up the wave of European conferences feels refreshing, and it was hopeful was to hear words such as “pluriverse”, “decolonization”, and “intersectionality” among the interventions.

Meanwhile in Amsterdam, Alex Pielaet (PGI’s OANM Business & Data Specialist) hosted an Offers and Needs Market on April 21 as part of the Honor the Earth festival, hosted by 7 Billion Presidents, Regens Unite and Tolhuistuin.
