Post Growth Ripples: December 2022
Wrapping up the year with some exciting news.
--
The Post Growth Institute’s mission is to help lead the transition to a world where human systems thrive within ecological limits. Inspired by the wisdom of natural systems, we celebrate, support and develop ideas, programs and alliances that promote the circulation of money, power and resources in our local communities and global economy. Each month we publish an overview of our key activities and impact through the various pillars of our work.
Post-Growth Living
In exciting news, we’re thrilled to have received another round of funding from a generous donor. We’ll be sharing more details in January, along with our big plans for 2023.
Also this month, Post Growth Fellow, Monika Bielskyte’s interview that we published here recently was reposted on Resilience.

Post-Growth Entrepreneurship
The Offers and Needs Market (OANM) was featured as an Impact Story by the Royal Society of the Arts (RSA), which has generously funded our work.
The PGI’s Director of Equity, Dani Leonardo, and our Director of Education, Crystal Arnold, spoke to First Nations Radio about the power of the OANM to reveal community wealth and build deep interpersonal connections.
Meanwhile, a graduate of our OANM Facilitator Training shared some inspiring feedback. He said:
“In the Offers and Needs Market experience, it just felt like magic was going on. And through the training, I got to see what actually happens behind the curtain and how I can create that magic as well.”
Plus, we provided nonprofit consultancy for Tanja Lagoon Camp, and our Executive Director, Donnie Maclurcan, presented on ‘Post Growth Entrepreneurship’ at the Post Growth Summit.

Post-Growth Economics
Donnie spoke on the ‘Degrowth and Post-growth Paths to Biodiversity’ panel at the Solutions to the Underlying Causes of Biodiversity Loss conference, which took place alongside COP15 in Montreal. He also gave a talk to the Byron Bay Philosophy Group on the topic of ‘Why the Insatiable Focus on Growth?’
The PGI signed a campaign by the Civic and Diplomacy Centre, a Syrian NGO, urging the UN to fulfil its responsibility of aid in light of the Turkish invasion.
