Our mission at the Post Growth Institute is to uplift, co-design, and model approaches that equitably and innately circulate money and power in our local communities and global economy. Each month we publish an overview of our key activities and impact through the various pillars of our work.

The Offers and Needs Market continues to build community across borders. A recent Advanced Facilitator Training graduate, Sara El-Sayeh (based in Egypt), is organizing a series of OANMs. The series, Weaving Nourishing Networks, will support women refugees from countries like Palestine and Sudan build community in and around the city of Cairo.

Please consider chipping in to the project’s crowdfunding campaign! Your contributions will fund three in-person OANM events in Cairo, including meals and childcare for all participants.

After hosting a couple public, virtual OANMs in November, we are heartened to see the impact on so many around the world. One participant offers reflections on the experience in a LinkedIn post:

“I really like how people can come together and share what they care about and are able to safely express their struggles with others and how everyone is so willing to help one another. We really need something like this for the times we live in.”

Last month in Rwanda, certified OANM facilitator Fasoranti ‘Fash’ Damilola, used the OANM for a rapid networking session. During the exercise, he emphasized foregoing traditional job titles and networking conventions, and instead centered people’s personal talents. In short, “the magic was let loose.”

Last week, Catalina Langen (OANM training graduate), hosted an OANM in Los Angeles, California at a local teahouse and apothecary. She says that this ”different type of market, centering relationship-building over transactions…built community.”

Meanwhile, Donnie Maclurcan (PGI Director of Strategy) received a sweet thank-you message from a student after attending a talk he delivered:
