The Post Growth Institute’s mission is to help lead the transition to a world where human systems thrive within ecological limits. Inspired by the wisdom of natural systems, we celebrate, support and develop ideas, programs and alliances that promote the circulation of money, power and resources in our local communities and global economy. Each month we publish an overview of our key activities and impact through the various pillars of our work.

The year has started well here at the PGI. We are thrilled to announce that we’ve received another generous and game-changing grant! We’ve been awarded $200,000 from One Project, a non-profit initiative working globally with communities on new forms of governance and economics that are equitable, ecological, and effective.

The funding allows us to continue the huge momentum we’ve built over the past year since receiving the first grant, expanding our capacity to draw global connections and co-create pathways to a post-growth future.

Post-Growth Living

It was exciting to see the first instalment of our brand new Post Growth Co-Lab take place recently. The Co-Lab is a space for individuals working on post growth in different forms, disciplines, and organizations, to come together, share opportunities, workshop ideas, and give each other peer feedback and support on their work. It includes a methodology and an online meeting space to foster collaboration and advance post-growth writing, research, activism, and other related projects.

Post-Growth Entrepreneurship

This month, we became a partner on the proposed project ‘Feminist Cooperative Development in Africa and its Diaspora’ by the Diverse Solidarity Economies (DiSE) Collective — of which former Post Growth Fellow, Caroline Shenaz Hossein, is a founder.

We also worked with incoming Post Growth Fellow, Farzin Farzad, of Critical Equity on the Organizational Justice Bill of Rights, a living document on the fundamental needs of employees.

Post-Growth Economics

It was great to be featured in an event by the Schumacher Instutute, Reimagining Economics for a Thriving World, as part of their series of conversations about envisioning the next 50 years.

And it was great to see our Exceutive Director, Donnie Maclurcan’s panel presentation from a recent COP15 event in Montreal about solutions to the underlying causes of biodiversity loss.

Welcome, Elisa!

This month we’re honored to welcome Elisa Favaro as our brand new Director of Personnel. Elisa shared a little about her journey so far:
