In Chicago, US, Mike Strode (PGI’s OANM Manager) co-hosted the Shaping Change Facilitator Festival centered on facilitation practices and skilling-up community. In attendance was April Doner, a fellow OANM facilitator trainee and Asset-Based Community Development organizer.

Register for the next virtual OANM Facilitator Training starting on April 1 — scholarships are available.

On the same day as Mike’s event, dani Leonardo (PGI’s Director of Equity) and Gabriela Safay (PGI’s Director of Wellbeing) co-hosted with Southern Oregon Education Service District and Indigenous leaders a virtual OANM, centered on Native communities.

We are heartened to see the impact of the Offers & Needs Market model reaching far and wide in the world, as recently highlighted by a prominent facilitator with over 25K LinkedIn followers.

In Italy, Elisa Favaro (PGI’s Director of Personnel) met Mathis Wackernagel, co-founder of the Global Footprint Network and friend of the PGI! Attending Mathis’s honorary Master Degree ceremony from the University of Siena, Elisa appreciated his presentation, “How predictable is our future?” and the focus on asset-based, ‘honest curiosity’ in forecasting future scenarios.

Post Growth Stories

Alex Lopez from the Ekhilur Project is back with another inspiring piece about cooperatives in the Basque region that are keeping money circulating within the local economy and building community-led financial resilience. Read the original introduction post from 2023 here for context on the powerful initiative shifting millions of dollars.

Emilia Roig, social justice advocate, bestselling author, and expert on intersectionality and systemic injustice, provides poignant reminders on system change, letting go, and grief as we try to navigate the world unfolding around us. Read Emilia’s article, Here’s What’s Coming After Capitalism, which was originally published on her Substack, The Big Shift.

Throughout history, societies have repeatedly faced the collapse of systems without a clear successor in sight. The fall of feudalism didn’t come with a detailed blueprint for industrial capitalism. It simply came with the undeniable realization that the old way was no longer viable.

We were also thrilled to see the PGI’s forthcoming book, How On Earth, featured on a list of recommended books on degrowth/post-growth economics.
