Post Growth Stories
We received one of the best Offers and Needs Market (OANM) anecdotes this month. Suzan Joy (PGI Director of Hospitality) shared a heartwarming story of the OANM being applied in her village in Uganda:
Suzan’s neighbor was in a challenging situation, lacking the funds and materials needed to build her house. At Suzan’s suggestion to community source through the Offers & Needs Market, her neighbor agreed to try and host one. It was a huge success. Suzan’s neighbor received all she needed to thatch her roof and provide adequate shelter for her family.
In Turkey, Post Growth Affiliate fellow Uygar Ozesmi, highlights the PGI’s work in the high-level ekonomim news outlet covering leading institutions working on ‘beyond growth.’
An article on decoupling the ‘Good Life’ from capitalism by PGI Affiliate Fellow, Miho Soon, was republished in Radical Ecological Democracy.
The PGI was also credited with newsletter inspiration by The Green Fix, by including a poetic provocation by Ashanti Kunene we shared on LinkedIn.
Meanwhile, we were thrilled to see a collaboration between Post Growth Alliance member, Decolonising Economics, and Shado Mag, a project contributed to by PGI Affiliate Fellow Elia Ayoub. Together they profiled the Offers and Needs Market as part of their ‘Radical Futures Toolkit’ series.
And, we partnered with Unearthadox to launch of the Exploration Co-Lab, a programme that brings together a small cohort of ‘systems innovators’ with bold, transformative ideas, brought together for shared learning, support, and systems-level change.
Post Growth Events
, PGI Director of Strategy, along with Affiliate Fellow Turquoise Sound, ran a two-day workshop for the California Institute for Integral Studies on Embodied Regenerative Economics. Donnie also represented the PGI at a weeklong event in Costa Rica with the Transition Resource Circle on Post-Capitalist Philanthropy.
Through the Post Growth Alliance’s ‘hack the algorithm’ amplification system, we are seeing member organization’s offerings reach far and wide. For example, last month’s boost about Sociocracy for All’s primer course inspired one viewer on LinkedIn to take action:
The OANM continues to make ripples at events, being applied across sectors and geographies. At the Alliance for a Just Energy Transformation, 2022 Post Growth Fellow, Cle-Anne Gabriel, showcases how the OANM will facilitate matchmaking between investors and project developers.
