Post Growth Ripples: October 2024
Offers and Needs Markets happening all around the world, plus exciting events from Post Growth Alliance members.
Our mission at the Post Growth Institute is to uplift, co-design, and model approaches that equitably and innately circulate money and power in our local communities and global economy. Each month we publish an overview of our key activities and impact through the various pillars of our work.
Post Growth Events
On day three of the 9th Annual Black Sustainability Summit in Atlanta, members gathered for an in-person Offers and Needs Market led by our new OANM Program Manager (and certified OANM facilitator), Mike Tekh Strode of Kola Nut Collaborative.
Community members walked away from this experience with a deeper understanding of their purpose and how to implement what they’ve learned through networking conversations. Participants expressed excitement and gratitude afterwards sharing:
“I had all my needs met in just this group” — Mama Atiba Jones
“I didn’t realize I was this *^$@ing cool!” — Nic Clark, Georgia Conservation Voters
The following week, Crystal Arnold (our former Director of Education, now Director of Hospitality) and dani leonardo (our Director of Equity), hosted an OANM at the Right Use of Power’s virtual two-day conference. This year’s theme was Embracing Complexity: Collaborative Leadership and the Power of the Collective.
The next public, virtual Offers and Needs Market is coming up in November! This quarterly event brings together people from all over the world to share and forge new connections. Click here to register and see which session is right for your time zone.
Donnie Maclurcan (our Director of Strategy), embarks on another series of engagements in Europe, including presentations and hosting OANMs. Scroll down to see the ways post growth is making it into classrooms and beyond.
While in Mallorca, in partnership with Daniel Christian Wahl, Donnie hosted an OANM at Son Barrina. While there, he hosted a workshop on ‘How to Nurture our Better Nature through Intentionally Designed Exchange,’ also held at Son Barrina.
“I went in pretty sceptical and came out inspired!” — OANM participant from Asociación Permacultura Mediterránea
Donnie also stopped by the University of Barcelona to speak with a range of academics and local entrepreneurs.

Post Growth Stories
Aynur Yilmaz Ataman (our OANM Research Manager) recently contributed to a textbook, Macroeconomic Challenges to Structural Reform and Industrial Development, featuring a chapter on post-growth economics. Synthesizing the latest research findings and policy insights, the book offers a nuanced understanding of the key forces shaping economic trajectories. Dive into this excellent resource for policymakers, economists, researchers, academics, and students.
You can also purchase Aynur’s chapter, The Role of Sustainable Finance in the Transition to the Post-Growth Economy, as a solo accompaniment here.
Last but not least, we were heartened to see former Post Growth Fellow, Monika Bielskyte, on tour and meeting friends of the Institute in the Bay Area, including former Post Growth Fellow Turquoise Sound, who spoke at our Radical Philanthropy event last year.
