Female-Owned Sacramento Restaurants — As Inspired by Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird
Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird is an Oscar-nominated love letter to Sacramento. Since it’s a film by and about badass women, it feels fitting to show some love to local female-fronted spots, all of which are available for delivery on Postmates in Sacramento — the hometown of Gerwig and of Lady Bird.
Lemongrass Restaurant
As the chef and Culinary Director of Sacramento’s Lemongrass, Mai Pham has already made her mark in the Thai and Vietnamese food landscape. After her family fled from Saigon in 1975, it was only a matter of time before Pham built a name for herself as both a food writer, teacher, and restauranter. When Pham isn’t creating incredible pad thai, shaking beef, and everything in between, she can be found teaching classes at The Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley or writing for the SF Chronicle and LA Times. But her real passion, always comes back to food. Postmate her Hot & Spicy Chicken or the Seared Beef on Cool Rice Noodles, and you’ll get the memo.
Station 16
Minnie Nguyen is not only the executive chef and co-owner of this popular seafood spot, she is also born and raised in Sacramento. And her background is evident in her dishes — which tap into her Vietnamese American roots, adding bits of Cajun and Korean influence for a menu that knocks it out of the park. If you feel like having a lazy weekend, grab classic brunch plates like a smoked salmon scramble or a bacon and cheddar Benedict. Or for lunch or dinner, you’d be remiss not to hook yourself up with a steaming bowl of pho or a bánh mi. To hit those aforementioned Korean and Cajun notes, postmate an order of galbi fries (ft. Korean beef, kimchi, spicy aioli and a fried egg) or Cajun pasta, made with prawns and sausage in a tomato garlic cream sauce with spinach and parmesan. Ordering from here merely requires the art of restraint, and we don’t blame you if you’ve not yet perfected it.
Revolution Wine
The female trio behind Revolution Wines is a force to be reckoned with. Owner Gina Genshlea has trail-blazed her own path in Sacramento, starting the first urban winery in town. With a few other wineries following suite closely after Revolution Wine first opened in 2004, the quaint shop has been able to pace ahead in part thanks to chefs Kim Souza and Keri Baker. In addition to wine, this local favorite serves up bruschetta dips, burgers, pastas, and salads — always aiming to curate a highly seasonal menu. But should you ever just need a wine and chill kind of night, don’t forget you can now postmate wine in Sacramento. Yep. Just visit the Drinks category to order.
