While traditionally known for its country music scene, the indie band presence in Nashville has exploded in recent years. Paramore is credited with breaking the fabled “Nashville Curse” after Riot! went platinum (the first rock Nashville record to achieve such a feat in two decades), thus opening the door for other non-country acts to make a name for themselves.

We’re big fans of breaking with tradition when it comes to tunes, but if we’re talking food, it’d be a sin to stray from the classics. We vote you indulge in the best of both worlds. We’ve paired three tracks from some of Nashville’s best indie acts with some of the city’s best fried chicken dishes, all available for Postmates delivery stat. This means, you can listen to the best of Nashville, while tasting some of the best fried chicken this country has to offer.

The Track — “Running” by Bully

This is the third track of Bully’s sophomore record Losing, and as you might’ve guessed by its name, we suggest pairing it with chicken legs.

Food Pairing — Prince’s Hot Chicken

Get lost in the glorious grim of “Running” with a side of glistening grease. Whether you like your chicken plain and simple or ‘XXX Hot’, Prince’s Hot Chicken is the move. Add a side of pickles and you’ll be good to go.

The Track — “Not Too Late” by Moon Taxi

That’s right, the highly acclaimed Moon Taxi is based in none other than Nashville Tennessee. They’ve certainly made their mark across the U.S. but haven’t forgotten their Tennessee roots. When kicking it with these legends, we suggest ordering in the infamous chicken and waffles from PepperFire.

Food Pairing — PepperFire

At PepperFire you can’t go wrong with an order of three tenders, waffles, syrup, butter and pure good vibes to pair with Moon Taxi, any hour of the day. Some people might say waffles are strictly a morning indulgence, but we’re going to have to respectfully disagree on that point.

The Track — “Rise” by Becca Richardson

The inimitable Becca Richardson dropped We Are Gathered Here in 2017, and it’s a beautiful blend of influences that makes for a super impressive debut LP.

Food Pairing — McDougal’s

We think you should check out ethereal “Rise” while chowing down on some wings from McDougal’s. Grab a six-piece basket and prepare to get lifted!
