Postmates Applauds Ruling Protecting DREAMERS to live, work, and thrive in the United States

Today, the Supreme Court handed down a decision invalidating the Trump administration’s move to eliminate the DACA program and protections for more than 700,000 Dreamers living and working in the U.S. Postmates, along with more than 140 other companies, joined an amicus brief urging justices not to permit the administration’s unlawful termination of DACA because the program has unquestionably benefited American companies, and the economy overall.

Postmates issued the following statement in reaction to the high court’s decision:

“Today the nation planted the scales of justice squarely into the American origin story: one that is built by and for immigrants. Postmates applauds the Supreme Court’s decision to refuse to allow the Trump administration to move forward with its misguided and illegal plans to roll back DACA protections at this time. As an immigrant-founded company, Postmates is deeply committed to supporting and protecting Dreamers — the young people who contribute to our platform and American businesses across the country; who teach our kids at school; who serve in our military; and who are working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic to keep our communities safe. Although the Supreme Court provided a temporary victory for Dreamers today, it is critical that we find a permanent solution for these brave individuals who make our businesses, our economy, and our country stronger.”

Since 2017, Postmates has built a technology apprenticeship pipeline that offers workplace opportunities for DACA recipients; has advanced legislation to curb travel restrictions on Muslim Americans; partnered with the ACLU to launch know-your-rights campaigns inside the app to support immigrant couriers; and continues to advocate for smart and durable immigration laws to protect our collective prospects.
