Postmates has always been uniquely positioned to help move food to people who need it. In 2019 we scaled the power of our product through our Civic Labs program, FoodFight! The program helps rescue excess food from Postmates partner restaurants and deliver it immediately to local shelters in over 600 cities across the United States, supporting the houseless, the hungry, and vulnerable populations.
Building on that commitment to support those in need we’ve launched new efforts to support those on the frontlines fighting the COVID-19 coronavirus, including healthcare professionals, with high-quality food deliveries from local, small businesses while offering safe earning opportunities for our fleet.
Today, we’re announcing that we’ve partnered with World Central Kitchen to provide delivery in Los Angeles for Chefs For America, a nationwide emergency food relief program to deliver fresh meals to Americans that need assistance, as well as provide reliable recurring revenue for restaurants. In LA, WCK has activated a network of restaurants and foodservice providers to safely produce fresh meals.
Our partnership with World Central Kitchen and our already announced partnership with Feed Hero Nurses proves that we can leverage our existing infrastructure for good, in ways we have never needed to before.
World Central Kitchen is working across America to safely distribute fresh meals in communities that need support — for children and families to pick up and take home, to hospital workers, and as well as delivered to seniors who cannot venture outside.
Feed Hero Nurses is a grassroots 100% volunteer project in partnership with the nonprofit Random Acts that is utilizing Postmates to fulfill deliveries from local restaurants to hospitals, and helping to support Postmates partnered merchants like Fat Sal’s, Toca Madera, Tocaya Organica, Pizzaoki, and more. We have successfully delivered food to nurses reliably at lunch and dinner (overnight and weekend shifts are often overlooked for donations) 7 days a week since the COVID-19 crisis began. We’re delivering our 4,000 meal on GivingTuesday.
