Postmates Launches Its First International Market — Mexico City
With over 1,000 local partners and counting, today Postmates is proud to launch in Mexico City — our first international market. Starting today, residents in Polanco, Condesa, Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, Roma, Jardines Del Pedregal, Lomas de Tecamachalco and Ciudad Universitaria, among other areas, will have access to more than 1,000 restaurants — bringing the best of Mexico City’s diverse food scene to customers’ doors in minutes.
“We believe Mexico City is a perfect market for Postmates to offer its on-demand delivery service,” said Sean Plaice, Postmates co-founder & Chief Technology Officer. “It is one of the largest urban consumer markets in the world — with a vibrant economy and food scene. In the U.S., Postmates is known for our reliable network and an intuitive app experience, which makes it incredibly easy to unlock the best food within your city.”
As the originators of on-demand ‘anything’ in the U.S., and with more than 2.5 million deliveries made every month, we’ve built a loyal following who see the service not just as an app, but as a way of life — and we hope to do the same in Mexico City. Postmates is giving customers in Mexico City $1,000 pesos in delivery credit, which is good through December 15, 2017. To score the discount and order, download Postmates on iOS or Android. Deliveries cost 25 pesos per order, with an average delivery time of 35 minutes or less.
As has been our approach in the U.S., we also believe we are part of the communities we serve. In Mexico City we employ a local operations team and are partnering with Fundación Por Mexico, a nonprofit, for earthquake rebuilding efforts. Postmates is donating 10 percent of its sales in Mexico City from Nov. 15, 2017, through the end of the year to support the reconstruction of schools to improve the quality of life of Mexican children and teenagers.
We’re also kicking off the launch today, with a series of events in Mexico City. Postmates and the U.S. Embassy will co-host a roundtable on investing in the skills, talent and ecosystem that powers Mexico City’s entrepreneurial economy — with local incubators, startup founders, and the Mayor’s Economic Development office.
And later this evening Postmates will host a launch event that brings together local partners, Postmates teammates, community leaders and friends to celebrate — with live music and some amazing food from Postmates partners like the Hotel Carlota and Fonda Porteña.
As this is our first international expansion, we are excited for what’s to come as we continue to expand our services both in the U.S. and abroad.
