Postmates Partners with Square for Restaurant Order Management

Last month we announced that we partnered with Square to give local sellers access to on-demand delivery via Postmates. Today we’re excited to share that we’ve taken the partnership further and are part of the company’s newly launched order management integrations, helping sellers manage their Postmates orders directly in their POS. It’s available today with Square’s Restaurant POS.

Square is opening up its Restaurant POS to offer restaurant owners a combined delivery and point-of-sale experience, ultimately eliminating the use of multiple tablets and the need to manually enter online orders into the point of sale.

Square for Restaurants now streamlines the entire process of accepting off-premises orders, like delivery or takeout requests, and enables restaurants to be even more efficient and productive. Additionally, restaurants will have a simplified look into their in-store, online, and delivery orders all in one unified location.

We believe that the deeper we can integrate with a merchant, the better. Workflows and in-store operations can be completely streamlined with point of sale integrations or with connected device (i.e. printing) features when using the Postmates Merchant app (available on tablets). Point of Sale integrations make merchant’s workflow easier by:

• Reducing the number of tablets
• Simplifying back of house and accounting
• Inventory tracking

As we continue to innovate our merchant offerings, Postmates supports three different types of point of sale integrations — direct to point of sale through a partnership with the point of sale company (i.e. Square), partnerships with third-party aggregators (i.e. Olo, Bringg, Chowly), and custom integration for large sellers that have their built their own point of sale systems. Additionally, if a point of sale integration isn’t what a merchant is looking for, they can easily use the Postmates Merchant App which is available for download on Android devices and on tablets that we provide.
