The United State Of Women + Postmates — We Are Who We’ve Been Waiting For
This weekend’s United State of Women Summit perfectly captured what has been not-so-silently building for months; women are turning their take no prisoners moment into a take no prisoners movement.
It’s a movement Postmates is proud to support.
We had the honor of participating in the gathering — an annual event hosted by former First Lady Michelle Obama. Attended by over 5,000 female executives, entrepreneurs, and activists, the event sought to break down the barriers necessary to ensure equality in the boardroom, the classroom, and within the corridors of power. From actress and activist Jane Fonda’s gripping introduction of Black Lives Matters Founder Patrisse Cullors, to the painfully honest realization that we still have work to do — as evidenced by testimonies of Moms Demand Action Founder Shannon Watts and school violence survivor Tia Smith — no topic was left untouched.
For her part — Postmates SVP of Finance & Strategy Kristin Schaefer opened up about her path to leadership, prioritizing women in the workplace, bringing new ideas to fruition, and leaving corporate America for an early stage startup.
The morning’s exhaustive lineup understandably left attendees with quite the appetite and what pairs better with demanding equality than lunch provided by our local merchant partner Locali? Not much, tbh.
Rounding out our trifecta were fifteen LA-based Postmates — proudly representing the women of our Fleet throughout the weekend.

In the coming weeks, we will launch Women of Postmates — an internal employee resource group and event series.
Led by Schaefer, it is designed to build a sense of community and inclusive, open dialogue — to ensure that women feel supported at Postmates. We hope these events will help further build a culture in which women feel comfortable, supported and can voice their concerns.
