We’re working together to give back to Nashville

Nashville is home to around 1,000 Eventbrite and Postmates employees, making it an important city not just for the two companies, but for the many customers they serve. So when the devastating tornado hit on Tuesday morning, our teams jumped into action to do what we could to help not just our own family of employees, but the wider community.

Through a combination of financial support and on the ground volunteering with companies that share our office location at Cummins Station, Postmates and Eventbrite have contributed over $100,000 through direct in-kind support and cash donations to the Mayor’s recommended fund, the Middle TN Emergency Response Fund.

In the early hours of the disaster on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 Postmates employees were mobilized by the Civic Labs team to support one of our FoodFight! partners, the Little Pantry that Could, who was suffering from power outages.

That same day, employees distributed meals for the Martha O’Bryan Center and provided Postmates credit to cover meals for those in need for the day. The next morning, our team got together to serve meals at Room In the Inn for the unhoused, participated in a Germantown clean up, and one hosted by Zeal Church.

Hannah McNeill, Regional Account Manager for Postmates said going through such a tragic natural disaster has been eye opening, but heartening to see the community rally together. “Postmates and the city of Nashville showed up in droves through volunteer efforts and monetary donations. I had the pleasure of volunteering with the Martha O’Bryan Center last week serving meals to the elderly who lost power during the tornado. I couldn’t be more proud to be part of this Nashville or Postmates community.”

Other on the ground volunteer efforts include a North Nashville Cleanup with Crosspoint, donation collection with the Nashville Preds, supporting the Nolensville Fire Department for storm cleanup, meal distribution with Inspiritus Nashville, food prep and distribution with the Nashville Food Project, and more.

In addition, we have provided support to our fleet and merchant partners by sending immediate communications of how they can help, how they receive help if they need it, and expanded our FoodFight! program to help move food around the city from local restaurants wanting to give back.

We are still in the early stages of this relief effort and we know there’s a lot more work in the days and weeks ahead to get Nashville back on its feet. Our thoughts are with Nashville right now. We are #NashvilleStrong.
