It’s Whiskey Week over here at Postmates — and you made it to Friday! So why not join the party, kick back and rejoice with a Whiskey Cocktail?
We rounded up 5 must-have Whiskey recipes to give you some inspiration. And to keep your mouth watering, we also included the ideal food pairings.
BBT
3 ounces bourbon
3 ounces tonic
3 dashes aromatic bitters
Garnish: lemon peel
BBT is essentially an Old-Fashioned topped with tonic in a nice tall glass with ice. Perfect if you’re looking for a bolder & adventurous Whiskey drink.
Food Pairing: Lamb Gyro
Pro Tip: Visit the Halal Guys on Postmates to sample your very own gyro.
Manhattan
2 ounces rye whiskey
1 ounce sweet vermouth
2 dashes angostura bitters
Cubes of ice
Garnish: 1 cherry
Stir with ice and add to a chilled glass. A Manhattan is a classic cocktail reigning the drinking scene since the 1880s. Use an orange peel on the rim of your glass, and top with a fancy cocktail cherry for that extra something.
Food Pairing: Ribs
Pro tip: Go all out with a slow-roasted rack of pork spareribs. Order from one of our favorite local spots in the app, such as 4505 Burgers & BBQ.
Old Pal
1 ounce rye whiskey
1 ounce campari
1 ounce dry vermouth
Make an Old Pal your new best friend! Very similar to a Negroni but with rye whiskey instead of gin. Finish it off with an orange peel garnish.
Food Pairing: Crackers and cheese
Pro tip: Pairs especially well with Roquefort, brie, or gouda.
The Godfather
2 ounces scotch
1/2 ounce amaretto
Revenge isn’t the only thing best served cold…The Godfather is best served chilled over ice. This 1970’s inspired cocktail is the perfect blend of flavors, especially for beginner scotch drinkers that need a little added sweetness.
Food Pairing: Chocolate
Pro tip: When in doubt, choose dark chocolate. The more cacao, the better.
Whiskey Highball
2 ounces whiskey
Ginger ale to taste
A great go-to drink when you’re at a dive bar, (on a tinder date), or just needing a refreshing drink to really highlight the whiskey you’re drinking.
Food Pairing: Nuts and pretzels
Pro tip: The more variety the better, like a combination of salted peanuts, honey-roasted sesame chips, and mustard-seasoned twisted pretzels.
