The last 18 months have been a crazy journey for us. We started with a simple mission: helping people work better together. And unlike so many other companies, we wanted to do it using the tool people already use most: email.

For years, we experienced the struggles of attempting to efficiently gather our collective workloads and share them in a way that makes sense for everyone involved. Sure, there were apps and platforms that claimed to reduce all the clutter and noise, but they all came with the unfortunate caveat of adding yet another inbox to our growing collection of unnecessary inboxes. Let’s face it, email is the heart of team communication. Every other platform is going to split our attention from our main workflow, and they’re not all going to be worth it.

Emmerge enhances your inbox instead of replacing it, connecting the dots between people, emails and tasks. It’s based on most people’s existing workflow — sharing tasks and information via email. Because it’s a new view of an existing system, instead of a totally new platform, it’s easy to learn and it works with everyone you already communicate with. (In the communication stream you already have!)

Emmerge was designed from the ground up to enable transparent collaboration with your team and your clients. Unlike other tools that strive to replace email, Emmerge isn’t a walled garden. The message always gets through even if the recipient has never used Emmerge, and we don’t require them to sign up to participate.

We care a lot about being open and transparent in our hiring, our company culture and our product. That’s why, at launch, we’ll offer features such as:

  • Shared to-do lists: Anyone in a conversation can create a to-do by highlighting the text of an email, and assign it to anyone in the conversation
  • Text Commands: shortcuts to create, assign and organize tasks while you’re composing a message
  • Fast Follow Up: Creates a task that’s linked to a message with a single click
  • Files View: Shows a unified view of all the attachments including Dropbox, Box and Google Drive links in your email accounts
  • Subscriptions box: Separates mass mailings, allowing you to focus on the emails that matter most and making it easier to achieve inbox zero
  • Auto-tagging: Allows you to instantly filter email, to-dos and files based on the companies you communicate with
  • Time tracking: Automatically tracks the time you spend reading and writing emails on mobile and desktop and can report, based on tag, how much time you are spending communicating with a given account or project
  • Unread filter: Shows only unread messages to allow you to quickly process your new mail
  • Contacts: Shows all the messages, files and tasks that you’ve exchanged with a given person, and tag them for quick categorization

Emmerge was designed to improve communication between internal and external teams. We merged collaboration with email to make the work you do everyday easily shareable with those around you. We reduce and consolidate the tools you need to get your job done.

But don’t take our word for it. Because we’re a view of your existing email, you can learn how to use Emmerge while you read and respond to the messages in your inbox. Spend a few days in Emmerge, doing the work you’re already doing, and we’ll help you be more organized and efficient for years to come.
