2021. A bittersweet year.

For many, it was a year of feeling lost, stuck or searching (ourselves included).

Most probably, it was another year where an abundance of unrealised potential has gone unnoticed and therefore wasted.

But as the world continued to stir, the Potential team started to grow and our vision became more clear.

We would like to take this opportunity to look back and celebrate the small wins of this year with you, alongside a HUGE thank you to all those who we chatted to, supported us and have been radically open to our approach.

We continue to imagine what the world will look like when everyone finds their rightful seat.

And for those of you who are heading with us into 2022, the rabbit hole awaits…

2021 OVERVIEW

• THE TEAM WAS FORMED

Alex and Doug had made it their mission to back outliers. And so the recruiting began… After a few serendipitous encounters later, the team was united.

• WE GOT TO MEET EVEN MORE OF YOU!

Our serendipity engine was in full force as we met more and more creative and curious individuals through non agenda chats. Additionally, we were lucky enough to be joined with some incredible speakers every Friday!

• WE SAW EACH OTHER IN 3D

In October, we made our way to Potential headquarters aka Lichfield. For the majority of us, it was our first time meeting each other, despite working remotely together for just under a year!

The puzzle pieces continued to join together as we announced our support towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Not to mention the amazing impactful projects that are being discussed in the community on our discord.

And it certainly was a DREAM. Massive shoutout to Graham Hussey and the team for all the amazing content they are creating there.

New Finance and Climate VC

Climate fanatic Peet Denny and New Finance jedi Mike Kelly joined to run Potential’s Climate VC and New Finance VC.

AND THEY LAUNCHED THEIR OWN PODCASTS

We were able to combine conversations with impact, as both our fund managers went deep into their innovative spaces and met some amazing people on their brand new Podcast series, The New Finance Podcast and Cool Hominids!

Both season 2s are coming VERY soon.
