Musicians are the least well-funded body in the music industry?

It’s funny how most people come to the conclusion musicians are the least funded in the music industry or the general consensus is focused on music artists receiving support. This is so far from the truth as people sometimes forget about the music writers and bloggers. It’s like they do not even exist. Though in actual fact they pour a tremendous amount of creativity into their art, just like the musicians and even more so at times. Some might say it’s only writing, how hard can it be? However, I dare anyone to pick up a laptop and write consistent and interesting content under strict deadlines with word counts. People actually pay content marketers to write interesting content whereas music bloggers are expected to write for free. As a founder of a music publication, I can categorically say it is an uphill task for writers to promote an art they are so passionate about especially when they have to pay all the expenses they incur from their own pockets (think extortionate travel costs to go to gigs etc.) It is no surprise to see music writers juggle many other jobs on top of their writing. This has gone on for far too long and we at Britznbeatz have decided to do something about it.

Let me introduce you to Potentiam, a Latin word which means Influencer in English. We believe music creatives (all those included in the creation, promotion, and consumption of music) should be rewarded fairly for the value they bring to the industry. Yes, I did mention the fan, those consuming music because without them music would not even have value. Potentiam is creating an ecosystem powered by blockchain technology which makes all this possible with the use of smart contracts to make the collaborative efforts between members of the ecosystem transparent and secure. Most importantly, the network design is one of a decentralised and autonomous system, making its core value the community as a whole. Potentiam will be taking part in a token sale shortly to raise funds in order to develop the project.
