Power Ledger speaks at China’s Global NFT Summit
Power Ledger’s Sheree Ip spoke at China’s Global NFTs Digital IP and Asset Summit 全球NFT数字版权与资产峰会, hosted by Guangzhou’s Oumi Blockchain Technology Co. Ltd. At the summit invited industry leaders, corporate founders and elite scholars from many countries around the world, attended and shared their global insights on NFTs.
Chinese media outlet, Sina Finance, covered the key speeches at the summit. The summit discussed the current applications of NFT in finance, copyright and Internet of Things hardware. With the speakers covering a wide range of fields from art collections, cultural copyrights, digital identities, games, virtual worlds, edge computing to financial derivatives. The speakers also looked forward to the far-reaching effects and impacts of NFTs in the future.
Sheree introduced the audience to NFTs and their application in the renewable energy market. She discussed how the future of energy commodities trading can be completely transformed with NFTs in the Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) market. She explored NFTs opening up energy as the currency for the future, one where energy can be traded for goods and services. She also discussed Power Ledger’s NFTs projects with Clearway Energy Group, M-RETS, BCPG and KEPCO.
On the NFTs and Digital IP panel the CEO of Cointelegraph China, Vadim Krekotin, said that there are several main driving factors for the recent boom of NFTs. One of them, is that Ethereum has repeatedly broken through historical highs and attracted a lot of attention. The second is the media’s hype in driving new players to join the market. Vadim also said that NFTs can also be combined with new DeFi for escrow and it is a way that it can become more acceptable in the public.
Kendall Mao, the Chief Scientist of Ontology public blockchain introduced the broad concept of identity to attendees explaining that people, property everything we own has identities. Then he discussed Ontology’s decentralized identification protocol, the process of verifiable credentials and application scenarios.
The summit took place through a combined online and offline integration, with community interaction through WeChat and Telegram. The Summit was hosted through 6 cities in China including Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Xiamen, Changsha and Baotou with over 2,000 attendees.

After the summit, the guests who participated said the summit allowed them to understand the many key points of NFT law and the business use cases in which NFTs can apply. They were highly interested in the future innovations in the many fields covered and interdisciplinary exchanges on NFTs.
