Light is Borrowed
The light we bring is not our own, it is borrowed, not from a friend or loved one, but a being that has been calling our name from the beginning of time. We are given a gift. This gift is the falling of leaves in autumn and the blooming of flowers in spring. It is the ability to be loved and love again. It is the projects we take and the deals we make. It is the colors we see on the way to the office. All of this is wrapped in the hands of the one who loved us first.
The awkward part of this story is that we must decide what to do with it now, this light. What do we do with the fact that we face our faults every day? We stare at them like little gods mocking us and making fun of our weaknesses. We are not alone.
“Triumph!” you say, “in light of all that you have been given.” We know, we know, we know that you must be right from a righteous perspective, but who are we if we are not human? And we are human. We bite and we bleed like regular humans all attempting to make peace with the world. But no matter how hard we try sometimes we just can’t seem to make it happen.
This is where the light comes in, not to heal and take over, not repair by placing a bandage over our scars. The light is not here to fix us. The light is here to illuminate what is meant to be fixed. We are the ones who must do the fixing. We are the ones who must make the change. We are the ones…
