What I Found Searching For “Working Women” Images
I had the painful task of looking through stock images for PowerToFly, the company I cofounded that’s the fastest growing platform for businesses to diversify their teams [follow us on Medium]. It was pretty crazy when I looked at how “working women” photos show unrealistic multi-tasking in a world where, on average, women make 78% of what men do… But then my inner monologue just went off and I felt so much better about the value we provide. Enjoy!
[Update: My friend Greg did a search for “working dads”. The images prove that at least stock image photographers think men are just as ambidextrous as women — there is hope for gender equality.]
We’re basically “threefers”… Get a chef, nanny and business woman all for one hire.
We can work on the floor and type with one finger… So don’t buy us those expensive standing desks. Bonus: we decorate our floor offices with fake orchids.
Seriously, we really don’t need offices or cubicles when you see how we can lull a baby to sleep with one hand, wear a silky pajama top and file paperwork next to our real phone — and our baby phone — with the other hand.
Wait!! This mom is using both her hands to work, but the baby is super cool with it (let’s hope she’s not letting the baby stare at that screen for too long — that’s bad parenting).
Hands or no hands, you could literally put a weight around our necks… because we can obviously type (and think) with a 40-pound kid tugging at us.
More proof that we can operate a writing utensil with another human attached to us.
Psht… we do all this so we can put our babies to work. Just think, if we can teach infants how to select photos, imagine what we can do with those millennials!
Hire us! We’re a great deal… but do it fast… Some of us are being sucked into our computer screens (or going blind).
We’re getting pretty tired too… but we can still put together a mean breakfast plate with at least three croissants. Another great reason to hire us!
Okay… bye… time to race away in stilettos as we sprint against the biological clock. We’ll be working really hard until our time runs out.
