One of the most interesting parts of my job as the cofounder and President of PowerToFly, the platform for diversifying tech teams, is predicting new skills developers need based on conversations we have with our clients. This year, we’ve seen major companies ask for women in tech who can code for Amazon Alexa, the voice service that powers Amazon Echo and communicates directly with users — including celebrities like Alec Baldwin (remember those Super Bowl ads).

Online developers and companies — like Capital One, Domino’s, Fitbit, KAYAK, PGA Tour, Samsung SmartThings, Uber and Nutritionix — are reaching new audiences by building and adding skills to Alexa.

So to fulfill demand, we’re cohosting a special women in tech workshop at Amazon’s headquarters to walk attendees through the development of a new Alexa skill they can incorporate into a consumer-facing device.

This event is hosted by Paul Cutsinger, from the Alexa Skills Kit team. It will take place in Seattle at Amazon’s headquarters on Monday, September 26, 2016 from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM (PDT).

Sign up for it here and be eligible to win an Amazon Echo if you code 3 skills that are published within 30 days.
